The total number of people died from coronavirus in Ethiopia increased to 27 after seven new deaths on Sunday, the Ministry of Health said.
The Ministry in its daily report stated that seven people have died from the pandemic in 24 hours of which six are in Addis Ababa. It also stated that it has found 86 new COVID-19 positive people in Ethiopia in 24 hours after conducting laboratory tests for 6,092 people. Of the the 86 new COVIID-19 infected Ethiopians, 66 are inhabitants of Addis Ababa, seven from Tigray, seven from Oromia, four from Southern, one from Amhara and one from Dire Dawa.
The report also stated that in the last 24 hours, 63 patients in Ethiopia have also recovered from the global pandemic. Out of the total 2,020 coronavirus confirmed cases in Ethiopia, 344 people recovered from the pandemic. Currently 1,647 COVID-19 patients are getting treatment in Ethiopia.
The number of people in critical condition has also increased to 32, according to the report. The total number of people who have got laboratory test for coronavirus in Ethiopia so far is also increased to 142,960 including two Japanese who have returned to their country a few months ago.
Update June 8, 2020, in a related development the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia this afternoon said that it has found 136 new coronavirus cases. The new figure has increased the total number of confirmed cases so far to 2,156.
