111 coronavirus cases confirmed in Ethiopia

The total number of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases confirmed in Ethiopia has increased to 111 this morning, the Ministry of Health said.

The number has increased after three more COVID-19 infected people were detected during the last 24 hours. The three newly infected people by coronavirus are all Ethiopian nationals living in Dire Dawa City in the Eastern part of Ethiopia. The report of the Ministry stated that two of them 11 and 15 years old boys have recently returned from the neighboring Djibouti, while the third individual (18 years old) had physical
contacts with COVID-19 positive individual.



It is stated that during the last 24 hours Ethiopia has conducted a total of 396 laboratory tests for coronavirus. So far three people have died in Ethiopia from coronavirus, while 15 are reported to recover from the pandemic, which claims over 166,000 lives globally over the past few months.
So far in Africa some 1,000 people have lost their lives by the pandemic, which originated from Wuhan province of China.

Globally over 2.5 million coronavirus cases are confirmed. With close to 760,000 confirmed cases and over 40,000 deaths, the United States of America is the most affected country in the world by the pandemic. In Europe, which is also the most affected country, Italy and Spain have also lost close to 20,000 lives each by the pandemic so far. While France and Britain have also lost 15,000 plus lives each by COVID-19.
