CocaCola to bring FIFA World Cup Trophy to Ethiopia

The fourth FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour by CocaCola will arrive in Addis Ababa on Saturday 24th February 2017 giving Ethiopian fans the chance to experience football’s most coveted prize.

The FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola will give millions of people around the world the opportunity to get ready to taste the feeling of the world’s largest, most anticipated sporting event – the 2018 FIFA World Cup™. In hosting this momentous, international tour, Coca-Cola and FIFA invite fans to get up close and personal with the same trophy that is presented by FIFA to the winning country of the FIFA World Cup™.

FIFA World Cup 2018 fans in Ethiopia will have an opportunity to witness the world’s most-loved sport trophy tour the country in a number of ways. First, the FIFA World Cup Trophy will arrive in Ethiopia from Sudan on Saturday 24th February; there will be an opportunity for the President and other ministers to view the trophy at the National Palace in Addis Ababa.

Secondly, the Coca-Cola Company has organized a fans and consumers viewing opportunity at the Ghion Hotel Addis Ababa on Sunday, 25th February 2018 where there will be exciting and engaging activities as consumers get a chance of a lifetime to view the FIFA World Cup Trophy in Ethiopia.

For thousands of fans, it will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the most iconic symbol in football and share their passion for the game.

The FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola kicked off in September 2017 in Russia and will visit more than 50 countries across six continents, travelling 126,000 kilometers in the nine months leading up to the 2018 FIFA World Cup™. Within Russia, the FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola, the FIFA World Cup™ Original Trophy has visited 16 cities, including four Host Cities of the tournament.

This is the longest host country tour in history, with one out of every three Russians having the opportunity to experience the trophy in person. During the tour, which paused on 26 November 2017, fans were offered a taste of the upcoming festival of football and came as close as they can be to the trophy every player is dreaming of lifting. Upon its return to Russia in May 2018, The FIFA World Cup™ Trophy will visit nine more cities in the country.
