Addis Ababa City Administration, the capital of Ethiopia, is set to provide school uniform, exercise books and other utensils for 600,000 students free of charge.
Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa City Takele Umma today visited one of the garment factories engaged in preparing the school uniforms that will be distributed later to the students who are enrolled in government schools. It is indicated that the city administration will be providing free of charge school uniforms and utensils to all students up to grade 12 who are studying in government schools, according to Faven Tekalign, Press Secretary of Addis Ababa City Administration.
The donation of the Administration aims to support the families of the students who are economically disadvantaged and often struggle to provide the uniforms and utensils for their kids. Reports show that some schools in Addis Ababa have been engaged in school feeding program to feed the students who come to school empty stomach and faint because their families couldn’t feed them.
