Ethiopia, Kenya police set to launch joint operations

The police forces of Ethiopia, and National Police Service of Kenya are set to launch joint operations against the two terrorist organizations in the region namely, OLF-Shene and al-Shabaab.

This is indicated by Commissioner General Demelash Gebremichael, who received in his office his counterpart from Kenya, Inspector General Hilary N. Mutyambai. Commissioner General Demelash said that the two have agreed to jointly combat forces destruction in the neighborhood namely, al Shabaab and OLF-Shene.



Before the joint operation against the two terrorist groups fruitful, the Federal Police of Ethiopia, and its counterpart in Kenya will sign an agreement within less than a month, according to the state newswire, Ethiopian News Agency (ENA).

During their meeting in Addis Ababa today the heads of Federal Police of Ethiopia and its counterpart in Kenya have discussed cooperation on peace and security across the border the two countries share.
They have consulted on how the two sides can strengthen their collaboration to make sure movement of people across the border can be peaceful.



Among the issue the heads of the agencies have discussed include on how to tackle the activities of the Oromo Liberation Movement (OLF Shene), which is designated as a terrorist group by the Ethiopian Parliament along with the Tigray peoples Liberation Front (TPLF).

Inspector General Mutyambai of the National Police Service of Kenya is quoted as saying that the two agencies will work for the peace and security of the border areas by strengthening and improving exchange of information between the two sides.
