Ethiopian government says 200 individuals are captured while taking illegal military training in Benishangul Gumz region of western part of the country.
They were taking military training to destabilize the area, according to the state broadcaster – ETV, which described them as, ‘forces of destruction’. Four Kalashnikov guns and other traditional weapons were captured when the group was surrounded by Benishangul Gumz force.
They were captured in coordinated operation involving the national army, Benushagul Gumz police and security forces. When they were captured the 200 individuals were heading to Menge and Oda Illu area starting their journey from Gengen area on February 4, according to the report.
Since the country announced political reform led by Prime Minister Aby Ahmed ten months ago, different parts of Ethiopia including Benishangul Gumz, Oromia, Amhara, Somali and many parts in Southern part have been experiencing conflicts.
The people who are supporting the reform have been claiming that the conflicts are fuelled and financed by the former hardliners who used to claim that if they don’t stay on power the country will fall apart.
