The first vessel, MV Great Comfort, carrying 57,295 metric tons of Ethiopia’s fertilizer has arrived at Dibouti’s Doralleh Multi-Purpose Port as part of the new 2023/2015 E.C. fertilizer season.

The operation to directly transport the bulk cargo to various parts of Ethiopia has started upon the arrival of the vessel on December 27,2022. Following the berthing of the vessel at the port and the immediate beginning of operation, representatives from the Ethiopian Embassy in Djibouti along with pertinent stakeholders conducted a site visit.

Among the participants in the site visit are the Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Services Enterprise’s office in Djibouti, conducted a site visit to the port to assess the ongoing port operation and transportation of the fertilizer with the objective of ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of the entire logistics chain, according to the information from Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Services Enterprise.

“For the current farming season, the country plans to import more than 1.2 million metric tons of fertilizer through Djibouti ports, which is projected to increase depending on the farming conditions.
In order to achieve this goal and ensure the strategic cargo reaches its final destination, mainly the farmers, cooperation and coordination among the stakeholders involved in the port operation and transportation are critically important,” said Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Services Enterprise.
